What is PIF?

PIF is a charitable organisation for people working in health information. We represent more than 300 members. They include NHS Trusts, charities, private companies, freelance writers and academics. PIF has been setting health information standards for more than 25 years. In 2020 we set up the PIF TICK to help people find trusted health information.

Our vision

Everyone has access to personalised health information and support to enable them to make informed decisions about their health, wellbeing and care.

Our charitable objects

Our charitable objects align to our Vision. They focus our activity on public benefit via supportive member services. Our objects are to advance health by:

  • setting high standards for health information for the public and patients to use;
  • providing guidance, training and support to health professionals and others producing high quality health information; and
  • promoting awareness of high standards for health information among patients and the public.
